Friends of St Mary's (FOSM)
The Friends of St Mary’s (FOSM) is our school’s Parent, Teacher and Friends Association. It is run entirely by volunteer parents, carers and staff, who support the life of the school and enhance opportunities for our children. At the heart of FOSM is a shared commitment to our school values and to building a strong, caring community where everyone feels welcome, connected and included.
Our aims
FOSM aims to:
- Strengthen links between home, school and the wider community
- Bring together parents, carers, staff and friends in support of the school
- Raise funds to enhance resources, experiences and opportunities for pupils
- Organise inclusive events that promote enjoyment, belonging and togetherness
What we do
FOSM meets once every half term to share ideas, plan events and agree fundraising activities. Our events not only raise valuable funds but also create wonderful experiences for children and families. A highlight of the year is the annual Christmas Fayre, a much-loved community event that raises significant funds for the school and brings together parents and friends in a spirit of celebration and generosity.
FOSM also provides opportunities for parents and carers to meet others from across different year groups, helping to build friendships and strengthecommunity.
Why get involved?
Getting involved with FOSM is a rewarding way to:
- Support your child’s school in a practical and meaningful way
- Build relationships with other parents, carers and staff
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community
- Help create enriching experiences and lasting memories for children
Whether you can help regularly or just occasionally, every contribution makes a difference. Many hands make light work, and all support is greatly appreciated.

Community engagement and shared values
FOSM plays an important role in supporting the school’s commitment to community engagement, social responsibility and inclusion. Through fundraising events, FOSM helps ensure that all children are able to benefit from opportunities that enrich their learning, wellbeing and personal development. This partnership reflects our belief in working together with families and the wider community to help every child flourish.
Get involved
Everyone is welcome — parents, carers, grandparents, school staff and friends of the school. If you would like to get involved or find out more, please speak to the School Office.
