Year 4 trip to Brockwell Park Apiary
Year 4 had a wonderful trip to Brockwell Park as part of our Honeybee Programme, run by the charity School Food Matters.
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to dress in beekeeping suits and get a close-up look at the beehives. The children were thrilled to spot the queen bee on one of the frames – a very exciting moment!
Afterwards, we learned about the vital importance of bees to our planet. We discovered how bees help to pollinate many of the crops we eat and why they are essential for agriculture, biodiversity, and human life on Earth.
We also enjoyed a “safari walk” through the beautiful gardens, where we observed a variety of plants and pollinators and explored how living things depend on one another.
It was a fantastic day of learning, discovery, and outdoor exploration, and the children represented Year 4 brilliantly throughout the trip.
